TT Ball To Change After Olympics
It appears that due to a ban on the use of celluloid in most parts of the world the ITTF Executive Committee and the Equipment Committee shall request Ball Manufacturers to produce 40mm non-celluloid balls after the 2012 Olympic Games. Information regarding the material and playing characteristics is unclear, though PVC was once listed in earlier revision of the propositions that has since been removed. What is currently known is that the ball is made out of one single piece, thus eliminating the seam once and for all. Kudos to DHS and DFish for managing the feat. The new ball will also come with a slight increase in diameter between 40mm and 40.60mm as opposed to 39.50mm and 40.50mm.

Bedfordshire Senior team, who were promoted last year from Division 2C, consisting of Sandra Harper, Sarah Hudson (Captain), Jon Hall, Hamish Yeung and Kieran Smith played on the 2/3rd April at Draycott & Long Eaton TTC and performed extremely well in Division 1A to finish 5th overall and stay in the division for next season. Excellent performances from England No. 32 Sandra Harper on 69% wins, losing expectedly to England No. 1 Junior and No. 9 Senior Emily Bates from Lincs but also to an up and coming and determined 17 year old, England No. 54, Sophie Neil from Nottinghamshire. Jon Hall, England No. 105, rose to the occasion and won 57% of his matches including a win over England No. 86, Andy Wignall from Lincolnshire. Last year's hero 19 year old Kieran Smith playing at No.3 finished on 47% wins once again putting up a spirited performance including a magnificent result against England No 162, Paul Johnson of Lincs, winning 12-10 in the fifth but just missing out 10-12 in the fifth to Northumberland's veteran Neil McMaster. This is the County team's first time in this division for at least 8 years where previously they were immediately relegated so to stay in this division is a demonstration of Bedfordshire's continual improvement in table tennis.

Elstow v Mursley and Swannbourne Table Tennis Club
On Sunday 20th March Elstow TTC took part in their annual match for the Keith Pearson Memorial Cup against a team travelling from afar, well Buckinghamshire actually. Now, as I have previously mentioned, Mursley and Elstow have played this match every year for the past seven or eight years. In total, Elstow have won, once previously, losing was becoming a habit that we were determined to break. This year Elstow are celebrating their 30th anniversary and a win would be a great present for us, although we were not looking for any charity.
